Master Distiller Germán González, is the great grandson of General Manuel González, former President of México between 1880 - 1884. In the late 1970s Germán's father, Guillermo Gonzalez Diaz Lombardo, founder of La Gonzaleña launched what would become the first ultra-premium tequila imported into the United States, Chinaco. Germán worked closely with his father and learned how to handcraft tequila using traditional techniques. After years serving as Chinaco's master distiller, Germán left the company to launch his own brand, like his father before him.
The story of T1 Tequila Uno begins where the history of tequila begins. For centuries generations of tequila masters have perfected the art of making this unique spirit. A creation of Master Distiller Germán González, our tequilas have an acquired pedigree only achievable through heritage and continuity with the past. Handcrafted using these ancestral and traditional methods and from mature 100% Agave Azul grown in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, emerges a masterpiece collection of T1 Tequila Uno’s of extraordinary and exquisite caliber.

All the varieties T1 Tequila Uno are made from 100% mature Agave Azul grown in the Mexican Highlands, which tend to produce plants with higher concentrations of natural sugar. "I wanted to make a tequila using traditional methods, with mature agave and no additives," says Master Distiller Germán Gonzalez, who personally inspects each agave plant before it is harvested.
In the agave fields, González looks for what he calls a brown ring that forms around the center of the plant or piña,which is an indication that the agave is mature, much the way brown spots on a banana indicate ripeness. After harvest, Gonzalez then oversees each step of the production process at the Tequilera distillery, in the heart of Tequila, Jalisco, where he slow-roasts the specially picked agave in autoclave ovens for 20 hours. But its during the distillation process that González reveals the hand of an artist.

It didn't take long for Germán González to realize American tequila drinkers and Mexican tequila drinkers were different.
“Those who drink the 13 million boxes (of tequila here) really are different. We look for different things,” González says in Spanish.
The Mexico City native and master tequila distiller is behind t1 tequila uno, a spirit made with 100 percent agave juice, and one he says pairs well with the U.S. version of Mexican food.
